Five stages
Business Intelligence for every organization, at every stage
Every organization can grow with data, regardless of the current situation. We can help you achieve data maturity in five stages. Many organizations are still in the early stages and are only utilizing a fraction of their potential. By growing step by step towards being a data-driven organization, you will be able to respond to changes faster, optimize processes, expedite innovation and achieve real, sustainable growth. We are driven in helping you achieve this goal.
The five stages of data maturity
Curious what data maturity means exactly? Read the definition in our glossary.
Unorganized data as a starting point
What is lacking in this stage, is a reliable, consistent manner of reporting. Information is being collected randomly. The information is often incomplete and inconsistent which will lead to discussions concerning the figures and difficulty in making substantiated decisions.
Inefficient manual reports
Reports are still being generated manually with tools like Excel and PowerPoint. This may provide some flexibility, but the process is time consuming and not practical for processing large amounts of data and complex analyses.
Insight with BI tools and reports
With a tool like Power BI, you can make the first step towards achieving modern data analysis. Visual dashboards, automated reports make data more accessible, but are often limited to specific departments or goals.
Centralized data for better decisions
In this stage, data from different sources is bundled in a data warehouse. This improves the quality, consistency and usability of the data which enables organization-wide insights and comprehensive analyses.
Smart analyses for future growth
With machine learning and predictive analytics, you can harness the full potential of your data. This will enable you to make real-time decisions and, thanks to the integrations with operational systems, you will be ahead of the competition.

Who we serve
Business Intelligence for everyone
For us, it’s not only about technology, it’s also about connections. We believe in collaborative efforts, team development and building trust. This applies to SMEs who want a better grip on their figures, larger organizations who strive for market leadership and non-profit organizations who are aimed to make the greatest impact: we make BI practical and effective for everyone.
Statistics Netherlands measures the digital maturity of Dutch SMEs every year. 89% now meets the basic level of digital intensity, but 36% of businesses remain only marginally digitalized and barely make use of digital technology.
The stages above aren't theory: they are where organizations actually get stuck. In 2025 Cisco surveyed over 8,000 leaders across 30 markets and found that 64% struggle to centralize their data, exactly the step from stage 3 to stage 4. Only 13% are fully prepared to put AI to work, where stage 5 begins — a share that hasn't moved in three years.
SMEs
Focus on growth and efficiency
Efficiency is crucial for SMEs. Many companies struggle with complex reports, limited tools and a lack of time. Business Intelligence helps you work more productively, improve processes and safeguard continuity, without hassles and complicated systems. Optilise makes BI accessible, practical and scalable for SMEs that want to grow.
Large organizations
Data as a strategic advantage
For larger firms, it’s all about market leadership. Although they possess a great deal of data, utilizing that data is still a challenge. BI offers an overview and insight when it comes to maintaining consistent growth, customer loyalty and risk management. Optilise helps streamline complex data by developing a strategy that works on all levels. This will enable you to make strategic decisions with confidence and stay ahead of your competitors.
Non-profit organizations
Making maximum impact
Non-profit organizations strive to make the maximum impact, but are often faced with limited tools and not enough time. Business Intelligence helps improve processes, enhance transparency and accountability. Optilise makes BI practical and affordable, so that you can implement it for sustainable results and a greater impact.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
Wondering whether Business Intelligence fits your organisation? These are the questions that come up most.
Question not answered here?
Ask us directly Is Business Intelligence worthwhile for a small company?
Yes. The size of your organisation does not decide whether BI pays off. The number of decisions you make on gut feeling does. Smaller organisations often see results faster, because there are fewer systems to connect and the lines are short enough to put a dashboard to use immediately.
When is it time to move on from Excel?
Three signals say you are ready: your files are getting slow or unwieldy, you copy data between systems by hand, or you spend more time updating reports than reading them. If you recognise even one, the switch usually pays for itself within a year.
How much data do you need to start?
Far less than most organisations assume: one reliable source with a few months of history is enough for a first working dashboard. What counts is not the volume but the question behind it. Without a concrete question, even an enormous dataset returns nothing.
How do we know which stage of data maturity we are in?
Look at how you get your figures today: are they gathered by hand, do they sit in separate reports, or do they steer your decisions automatically? The five stages are described above, and in a first conversation we place your organisation on that scale at no cost.
