Business Intelligence is the process of turning scattered data from systems like your ERP, CRM or Excel files into reliable information your organization actually acts on. A dashboard is the visible endpoint, not the goal: without a solid data foundation underneath it, even the best-looking dashboard loses its value within months.
What does a Business Intelligence consultant or specialist at Optilise do?
A BI consultant first maps out which decision in your organization needs to become better, faster or sharper, and only then builds the data model and dashboards that support it. Our specialists work this out together with your team, from the first analysis through to the dashboards you use day to day.
Does Optilise only work with Power BI, or other tools too?
We are flexible in the BI solutions we use. We often work with Power BI ourselves, but other platforms are no problem: we fit in with what is already running in your organization, instead of moving you onto one fixed package.
Is a Business Intelligence consultant the same as a freelance Power BI developer?
Not quite. A freelance Power BI developer typically builds a dashboard against a spec that is already fixed, while a BI consultant starts one step earlier: with the question of which decision needs to become better, faster or sharper. From there we work back to the data model and the dashboards that support it.
Is Optilise an agency or an independent consultant?
Optilise is a small, specialised team of BI consultants: not a solo freelancer, but not a large agency with a rotating cast either. You work directly with the people who do the actual work, from the first conversation through to delivery. That keeps the lines short and the knowledge about your organization in one place.
What is the difference between Optilise and a BI software vendor?
A software vendor such as Microsoft sells the platform; Optilise provides the expertise and guidance to actually put that platform to work inside your organization. We usually build on Power BI, but the core of our work is the data model, the dashboards and the internal team that will manage them afterwards, not the licence itself.
